Tokyo Robin by oO-Fotisha-Oo Tokyo Robin by oO-Fotisha-Oo
Edit: I am aware of the language confusion on the sign, I have explained it several times, it is not necessary to comment/note/message me about it; I know. c:

Trouble in Tokyo Robin, after he's arrested after fighting the CMYK ink baddies ;P
I have never worried so much over a hairstyle in my entire life :I
Reference: [link]

Quite pleased with it, it was one of those things i wanted to draw a million years ago and then forgot until last week :P
Think I might have to pull back on the giant painting pieces tho because they cut my productivity way down and I think quantity over quality will help me improve faster this summer....anywho

Done in SAI and a little in Ps Cs6

Please REBLOG if you wish to, do NOT repost that way I can keep track of where all my art is, thank you! c:

fun fact: the serial number(whatever it's called) on the mugshot is an easter egg. It refers to the origins of Robin's character:

His character was introduced for the first time ever in Detective Comics issue #38, in April 1940. The one where, on the cover page, he's leaping through the hoop Batman is holding up. "The BOY-Wonder!"

Detective Comics = DC
April 1940 = 04-40
DC-38-04-40

(O,O)

I loved it whenever they made an allusion to Robin's origins in the show *u*
Im sorry if this is over explained but I just rewatched Trouble in Tokyo for the first time in a bajillion years and I could not believe it! I love the fact that the movie included this little tidbit. I just wanted everyone else to know about this!

Oh wow, this is amazing! I really love how you intensified the ink splatters around Robin's swollen eye... it's a great example of your attention to detail.

Overall, lovely artwork!

You may want to switch the last character to katakana, it looks weird how his name is all in katakana but with a hiragana "n" on the end.

I read it after, but nevertheless, if you're upset about people pointing it out, why not correct the issue?

I already explained that as well in the links provided in the description. I thought accuracy to the movie was best so I stuck with the reference I was using. I am not upset about people pointing out a mistake to me, rather that answering the same questions like this one, when the answer is already provided, is tiresome and needlessly filling up my inbox. (Especially since some people have been less than polite about it.) I only meant to say that it would be appreciated if you could take less than a second to glance at a description before commenting.

How many layers did this take you? *is practicing SAI*
Reply
:iconoo-fotisha-oo:

Erm, I don't really have a systematic method to my layers, I approach it like painting. I have the base where I scribble/block in my rough idea. 2nd layer I just keep painting, if I like where it's going I compress it into the base, start a new second layer keep working, check work, looks good = compress again. Or if I don't like what I've done to it then I delete the whole 2nd layer and the good stuff up until then is safe underneath on the base layer. So I basically only paint on the one layer (the 2nd). For this one tho the paint splatters and cuts/bruises had their own individual layers -sometimes specific details like that get their own layer. Textures get their own layer too, but again that's all final detail stuff so by then I've compressed everything else -so really only 2-4 layers max.

Too many layers just gets confusing and then you paint on the wrong one and it's game over lol. :I

I see-- that's amazing! (*sorry for bothering you with these questions ><*)

Uhm, what exactly do you entail by "compress?"

and how long have you been using SAI?

:iconoo-fotisha-oo:
oO-Fotisha-Oo Featured By Owner Jul 10, 2013  Student Digital Artist
No bother :>
Compress like merge when you merge two layers together into one layer. In SAI its the little button that looks like scissors with a down arrow in the layers window. In Ps it's like ctrl+shft+e, I think?
Not long actually only a couple months, still learning c:
